Improving seafood products for the consumer

It is widely accepted that increased consumption of seafood is important in dealing with growing health problems such as cardiovascular disease. Based on a major EU Integrated Research Project, SEAFOODplus, this important book reviews the range of research into consumer attitudes towards seafood and the key issues in improving the safety, nutritional, and sensory quality of seafood products to meet consumer expectations.
Divided into six parts the book reviews consumer attitudes to seafood, including regional differences, consumer information needs, and attitudes to processed seafood products. It then discusses research on the important health benefits of seafood consumption in such areas as gastrointestinal health, heart disease, and the health of children and young adults. The following chapters examine key seafood safety issues and how they can be managed, from virus contamination and pathogens to histamine and biogenic amines. The book then discusses the range of technologies designed to optimize the sensory and health benefits of seafood and ensure animal welfare in aquaculture operations. It concludes with coverage of the role validation and traceability play in regaining and strengthening consumer confidence.
Improving Seafood Products for the Consumer will be a valuable reference for the seafood processing industry, and all those concerned with improving the consumption of Seafood products.

What is the ratio of seafood and guest per kilo gram of seafood if you’re having a party?
I’m going to host a party and I’ve decided to serve only Seafood. I’d like to know how much many Kg of variou seafood I should buy or just the ration of guest per kg of seafood. Thanks
There would be around 50, the dishes would be grilled fish, fish fillet, stuffed squid, grilled prawns, calamari and crab salad.
Well we need to know how many are invited, what types of seafood, will there be a buffet, or just Appetizers to nibble on, will there be a sit down dinner. This all plays in to how we can assist you in figuring out how much per person you will need.
Usually its 8 oz of seafood per person, but that is only if there is a sit down meal served as well.

8-10 shrimp"prawns" per person
2 3 oz fillets of fish per person
Depending on the size of Calimari for stuffed and for the salad figure about 1-2 large per person, and for lump crab meat if thats what your getting figure 2c per person.
