What should I do about food allergies?
I just don’t think I can stick with this diet. Gluten free is enough of a sacrifice. It just makes me want to cry.
I recently discovered that I’m intolerant of wheat. I told my doctor about this and he decided to test me for more food allergies using an IGG4 test, which I think is different from what they usually use. Anyway, the list is a mile long. There were seriously more foods on the list that I was allergic to than not allergic to. If I were to avoid all these foods, I would be left with rice, soy, fish, chicken, apples, and a couple of vegetables. It makes me want to cry when I think about cutting all those out. I don’t feel sick at all. Does anyone know about this type of testing? What should I do?
I believe I have celiac. I haven’t been tested because I went gluten free on a whim and discovered that I felt so much better. I decided not to do the testing because I feel so sick when I eat even small amounts of gluten. I’m not willing to eat it just to determine if it’s celiac, an allergy or just an intolerance. I have plenty of gf recipes, but thank you for offering
see allergist for food allergies not intolerance’s, anaphalaxis allergy you die i am not celiac are you? no blunting on me wheat intolerance MSG too food dyes i feel better on GF diet gluten free no wheat, happy to share food recipes for GF

Hi Zeta. Have you been tested for Celiac Disease? Celiac Disease (CD) is caused by allergic reactions to wheat, rye and barley – it is the ultimate ‘worst case scenario’ for a wheat allergy.
CD damages the lining of the small intestine where digestion and absorption occurs. This damage results in inadequate digestion, poor absorption of nutrients but excessive absorption of partially digested proteins, and chronic activation of the gut’s immune system. Overall, these changes can lead to progressive development of other food allergies!
So, first I strongly suggest you get tested for Celiac Disease. If you have CD the only treatment is absolute avoidance of the proteins in wheat, rye and barley called glutens/gliadins.
Next, the approach to dealing with the many other food allergies depends on how severe they are. You may need to avoid foods that you are severely allergic too (or only eat them very rarely in small amounts). Less severe food allergens may be consumed on a rotational basis (e.g. every 4th or 5th day). Mild food allergens can often be consumed fairly regularly or periodically in small amounts once you have addressed the more serious food allergens.
In summary, it is vital that you and your doctor determine the underlying problem that is driving your development of so many food allergies. Then, you can address the individual allergens as noted above.
Best wishes and good luck.

Same here.
You can send a sample of your hair to this testing facility, you know, with the root intact and a few weeks later the facility will send you back a complete copy of what you are allergic to.

Hi, I am allergic to about 20 foods. I had intradermal testing. I’d recommend that you try to find an allergist that offers immunotherapy for food allergies. I take 2 drops of serum under my tongue each morning and I can eat almost everything I am allergic to (in moderate amounts). If I didn’t have my drops, I could only eat some fruit and some vegetables, I am allergic to all protein sources. I was sick all the time, the sublingual drops have changed my life. I feel so sorry for people whose doctors don’t use or believe in them. You could also have a shot for food allergies. Celiacs is NOT the same as a wheat allergy. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Coeliac_disease
